New Hampton Police Department Enhances Safety for Staff, Officers

Sealed bids for the construction of a secure entrance area for the New Hampton Police Department are due Friday.
Chief Zach Nosbisch says the enhanced lobby will provide added security to officers, staff and police equipment. He estimates the project will cost about $10,000 and those wishing to submit a bid can make an appointment to view the remodel specs.
Sealed bids will be due Friday (February 4) by 5 p.m. at the City Clerk’s Office in New Hampton. Bids will be opened at the City Council meeting Monday night (February 7). The City has the right to reject any or all bids.
The secured lobby is just one of the improvement projects for the department, which has received a $6,000 grant from the Community Foundation of Northeast Iowa to purchase and install new, in-car computer tablets to replace current laptops that were starting to fail.
Nosbisch says the new tablets allow for faster information sharing between agencies within the city, county, and state.
Nosbisch says the new tablets also mean more uniformity of equipment inside each patrol car.
The New Hampton Police Department also recently received a $2,500 donation from the Mark and Kris Kramer Foundation to be used towards updating equipment and training.
