Number of New COVID Cases Continues to Drop Across North Iowa

The number of new positive COVID cases was down across all area north Iowa counties this week.

According to Iowa Department of Public Health positive case analysis data, Floyd County recorded 56 new COVID cases for the seven-day reporting period ending Tuesday, February 8th. That number is down from the 103 cases a week earlier. Chickasaw County also saw a decrease with 34 cases this week, down from 56 a week ago.

Cerro Gordo County dropped from 178 new COVID cases last week to 138 this week; Bremer County decreased from 128 to 97; Fayette County declined from 116 to 87;  Winneshiek County went from 88 down to 73; Butler County decreased from 76 to 50; Franklin County was down from 50 to 40; Mitchell County dropped from 41 to 28; and Worth County declined from 35 to 21.

Howard County had the area’s lowest number of new positive COVID cases for the seven-day period ending Tuesday with 18, down from 43 cases the week before.

The state’s 7-day positivity rate ending February 8th was 13.3% and the 14-day positivity rate was 15.9%
