Charles City Apartment Complex Fire Cause Still Undetermined

The cause of a fire at an apartment complex in Charles City is still undetermined.
The fire Wednesday night, February 2nd, at 701 Milwaukee Street led to the evacuation of a six-apartment complex amid wind chills of 20 to 30 degrees below zero. Approximately 40 firefighters from the Charles City, Colwell, Floyd, Marble Rock and Nashua fire departments battled the blaze.
Fire to the upper floors and attic combined with water damage throughout the home have made the building uninhabitable at this time. Amazing Grace Church in Charles City continues to accept clothing, shoe and food gift card donations for one male and his 6-year-old son, one adult female and another male displaced by the fire. You can find more information on the church’s Facebook page.
All apartment complex occupants present at the time of the fire escaped with one tenant transported by AMR ambulance to Floyd County Medical Center for evaluation of possible smoke inhalation.
While the cause remains undetermined, officials said the fire did not appear to be suspicious in nature.
