Charles City Makes Final Payment on Main Street Building Project

The Charles City City Council has approved the final payment for a remodeling project at 401 North Main Street.

City Administrator Steve Diers says the City retained about 5% of the total price tag of $77,000 until the project was completed and, this week, the final payment of almost $4,000 was approved to be released to the project’s contractor, Henkel Construction.

401 Main Street is also home to the Charles City Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Charles City and the Charles City Area Development Corporation, which Mayor Dean Andrews notes are separate from city government.

In other action at Monday’s meeting, the council set the public hearing on the City’s max tax property levy for the next regular meeting on Wednesday night, February 23rd.
