The New Hampton Fire Department is utilizing social media to recruit more volunteers.
That’s Fire Chief Toby Schwickerath from a YouTube recruitment video the Firefighters Association paid to have produced by Nelson Media. Schwickerath says they’ve had about 1,000 views and lots of positive feedback.
Schwickerath says they prefer to have about 30 volunteer firefighters at the ready, but that can fluctuate as the lives of volunteers outside of firefighting change their availability. He adds that more EMS volunteers are also welcome.
