
Charles City finished in 7th place in the Class 1A boys team bowling at the Iowa High School State Tournament at Cadillac Lanes in Waterloo Monday.
The Comets lost their first-round dual to Lousia-Muscatine 3-games to none. Charles City finished ahead of 8th-place Camanche, which also lost 3-0 in the first round, but the Comets totaled more pins knocked down in their 3-game series, 2,870 to 2,644.
Camance lost to eventual state champion Shenandoah, which beat Louisa-Muscatine in the finals.
Charles City’s Cael Bohlen and Dillon Ross, plus Oelwein’s Austin Espe and Waukon’s Cody Huinker bowl Tuesday (02.22) in the Class 1A individuals tournament at Maple Lanes in Waterloo.
Huinker and Bohlen advanced through the preliminaries Tuesday morning and are seeded 6th and 7th respectively among the top eight bowlers still alive in Class1A.
