Democrat Breitbach Confirmed as District 1 Supervisor in Chickasaw County

There were no changes in the official results for the special election to fill the District 1 seat on the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors.

An official canvas by the Board of Supervisors Monday confirmed Democrat Steven Breitbach as the winner with 145 votes to edge Republican Michael Winter, who received 143 votes. Breitbach, appointed interim supervisor on January 25th to fill the vacancy created with the death of former supervisor Rick Holthaus, will serve out the remainder of the term through December 31, 2024.

Five candidates in all ran for the post, with former supervisor David Tilkes finishing third with 66 votes, followed by Mark Knoll with 17 and Larry Laures with 11.

382 ballots were cast out of 1552 registered voters in District 1, a turnout of almost 25%.
