Charles City Man Arrested on Warrants for Multiple Drug Charges

A Charles City man wanted on multiple drug-related offenses was taken into custody Thursday evening.
The Floyd County Sheriff’s Office says 20-year-old Samuel Kiewel was arrested in the 400 block of Ferguson Street shortly after 5:30 p.m. Thursday on three Floyd County warrants for controlled substance violations.
Court documents show Kiewel faces charges from his original arrest on November 20, 2021, when he was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for a traffic violation on Old Highway Road just north of Nashua. A deputy detected an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle, leading to further investigation in which Kiewel was found to be in possession of various drugs and drug paraphernalia.
Authorities say, in addition to a drug smoking device, Kiewel had a zip lock baggie containing LSD; plus, a glass jar containing over four grams of a wax like substance, marijuana concentrate, which he admitted to selling. The vehicle search also discovered a yellow envelope containing a baggie with 24 “CALI GUMMIEZ 50 MG THC,” which Kiewel also admitted to selling.
Kiewel was charged with one Class B felony and two Class D felony counts of controlled substance violations. Kiewel is also accused of possessing and/or purchasing alcohol under the legal age.
Kiewel was booked into the Floyd County Jail on $35,000 bond.
