Chickasaw County Law Enforcement Contract with Nashua Closer to Done Deal

After a couple of months of back and forth, negotiations for the contract terms for the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office to provide law enforcement service in Nashua are back to where they started.

The Nashua City Council voted last week to have the Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors draw up a 28E agreement based on the original County offer. Monday, the Supervisors voted to approve the sheriff’s department to provide 240 hours of service per month at a rate of $59.50 per hour, for a total annual contract of $171,360 from July 1, 2022, to June 30, 2023.

Supervisors did amend the contract details to charge service at the time-and-a-half rate of $89.25 an hour for hours that exceed the total contracted hours of 2,880. Both governing bodies must sign the agreement for it to become official.
