City of New Hampton To Take Building Repairs in Their Own Hands

The City of New Hampton will take matters into their own hands to make repairs to the building that houses the New Horizon’s Chamber of Commerce.
Mayor Bobby Schwickerath says the City will abate the property at 115 West Main Street since the owner, listed as Carpe Diem, LLC, of Charles City has not responded to requests to make the necessary building repairs in a timely fashion.
Schwickerath says by abating the property, the City will make the necessary repairs and assess the charges to the owner’s property taxes.
New Hampton Fire Chief Toby Schwickerath examined the building’s condition in late December and recommended repairs as soon as possible. City Attorney Todd Prichard also sent letters to the landlord with no response as of the March 15th deadline established by the City.
