Missouri Man Charged with Attempted Murder in North Iowa
A Missouri man is facing a charge of attempted murder following a weekend shooting in north Iowa.
The Iowa Department of Public Safety says Algona Police received a report of shots fired on North Park Drive in Algona and a vehicle leaving the area at a high rate of speed just before 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Officers responded and located a male victim who had been shot at, but not hit, and identified other witnesses to the altercation, which determined that the two men involved knew each other.Ā Ā
The suspect vehicle was later stopped by the Iowa State Patrol and Iowa Department of Transportation Motor Vehicle Enforcement on Interstate 35 near Williams, Iowa.Ā Authorities identified 20-year-old Michael Street of Fredericktown, Missouri, as the person who allegedly fired the shots. He was arrested and charged with attempted murder, a Class B felony. Street was being held in the Kossuth County Jail on a $500,000 cash only bond.
The Kossuth County Sheriffās Office, the Clear Lake Police Department, and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation also assisted in the investigation and apprehension of Street.
