Northeast Iowa Men Win Total of $70,000 with Iowa Lottery

A pair of northeast Iowa men are among the state’s larger winners playing Iowa Lottery scratch games in April.

Lottery officials say Robert Woodbeck of Lansing, in Allamakee County, won the 70th top prize of $50,000 in the “$50,000 Super Crossword” scratch game. Woodbeck, a self-employed electrician, says he bought his winning ticket at Kwik Star in Waukon after he forgot to buy a cup of coffee at a store he stopped at previously.

The $50,000 Super Crossword is a $5 scratch game that features 102 top prizes of $50,000 and overall odds of 1 in 3.53.

Christopher Meyer of Fort Atkinson, in Winneshiek County, won a $20,000 prize in the “Word Search” InstaPlay game. He purchased his winning ticket at Kwik Star in Calmar.

Word Search is a $20 game that features 25 top prizes of $100,000, 75 prizes of $20,000 and overall odds of 1 in 3.05.

Both men claimed their prizes last week at the Iowa Lottery’s Mason City regional office.
