Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office Makes Free Scam Booklets Available

Various booklets related to protecting citizens from possible scams are being made available by the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Marty Hemann says his department was approached by LAW Publications about the booklets and if area businesses would be interested in sponsoring the materials to defray printing costs. He says the information looked useful to educating the people of Chickasaw County on how to protect themselves against scams related to drug abuse; identity theft; cons and frauds; workplace violence; personal safety in public, cyber-bullying; and the safety and security of your identity, money and financial accounts.

Hemann says several area businesses in New Hampton, Nashua and Fredericksburg agreed to help sponsor the booklets, which were received earlier this month. He adds that the department is now working on distributing the publications to libraries, city halls, doctor’s offices/clinics, and other locations throughout the county. Some booklets are also available at the sheriff’s office.
