Northeast Iowa Towns Along 2022 RAGBRAI Route Pick Themes, Logos

Northeast Iowa towns serving as pass-through, meeting and overnight towns along this year’s RAGBRAI route continue to establish themes and logos in preparation for upwards of 15,000 bike riders to make their way across Cerro Gordo, Floyd, Chickasaw and Fayette counties this summer.

Mason City will serve as overnight stop on July 27th with a theme of “Ride of the Century,” recognizing the 100-mile ride from Emmetsburg to Mason City, the first “century” ride for RAGBRAI since 1985.

Charles City will serve as overnight host on July 28th with a theme of “Viva! Charles City.” Viva is an Italian and Spanish word for “celebration” to celebrate all the community has to offer.

West Union will host bikers the night of July 29th with the theme “It’s All Downhill From Here,” a tongue-in-cheek nod to the uphill climbs bicyclists face during their trek the next day to Lansing, the final destination on this year’s ride.

Lawler, the meeting town July 29th as bikers ride from Charles City to West Union, invites visitors and residents to “Get Looney in Lawler,” a play off of Looney Tunes characters.

Waucoma, a pass-through town between Charles City and West Union, wants their community to be “The Best ‘Dam’ Stop” on this year’s route, as a salute to the Waucoma Mill bridge on the Turkey River.

Wednesday night (04.27),  Rockford, a pass-through town on July 28th as riders leave from Mason City will have their first RAGBRAI community meeting at 7 p.m. in the Rockford Community Center.

Marble Rock, the meeting town between Mason City and Charles City, hopes to finalize their theme and log this week.
