Northeast Iowa Woman Accused of Theft Arrested for Violating Pre-Trial Supervision

A northeast Iowa woman, already facing charges for stealing money from her employer, was arrested this weekend for violating her pretrial supervision.

The Winneshiek County Sheriff’s Office says 38-year-old Trisha Kountkofsky of Ridgeway was taken into custody shortly before 9:30 p.m. Saturday night by Postville Police on a bench warrant. Court records show Kountkofsky has violated conditions of her pre-trial supervision on at least 10 occasions including testing positive for methamphetamines and amphetamines.

In February, Kountkofsky was arrested for second-degree theft, a Class D felony. According to the criminal complaint, Kountkofsky is accused of taking at least $5,000 from Randy’s Bluffton Store, located about 15 miles northwest of Decorah. The store owner says he suspected Kountkofsky of taking money previously and court documents show that her charge of second-degree theft dates back to last June.

She’s scheduled to stand trial starting July 6th.

In August of 2019. Kountkofksy won $100,000 with an Iowa Lottery scratch game.
