Charles City Spring Cleanup Continues, Civic Groups to Pick Up Items Thursday

Spring Cleanup in Charles City has passed the halfway point.

Instead of a one-day pickup event as in year’s past, this year’s event was expanded to 10 days with drop off of junk at the Shaw Avenue dumpsite available every day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. through this Saturday. Also new this year is the disposal of up to four automotive tires per household.

During their regular meeting Monday night, City Administrator Steve Diers gave the City Council an update on the first four days of drop offs covering last Thursday through Sunday.

For those who don’t have the means to take items to the dumpsite, Diers says Charles City Rotary and Lions Club members, along with Boy Scouts and high school students will be picking up items on Thursday. The deadline for signup with City Hall is 3 p.m. Wednesday.
