Downtown Access to Charles City Limited for Motorists During RAGBRAI

Between bike riders and their support crews, upwards of 20,000 extra people are expected to descend on Charles City when RAGBRAI comes to town this summer.

Charles City will serve as the overnight stay for RAGBRAI on July 28th, which Police Chief Hugh Anderson says will restrict travel through the downtown area.

Anderson is also alerting motorists to the RAGBRAI riders’ route into town.

Since bike riders will be passing Zoetis on Highway 14, affecting access to one of the City’s largest employers, Anderson says his department is working with Zoetis officials to help facilitate getting workers into and out of the plant for their various shifts.
