Free meals through the Summer Food Program for the New Hampton School District will be available Tuesdays and Thursdays in June.
Superintendent Jay Jurrens says they are restricted to offering the meals in an area that’s west of Linn Avenue and north of Main Street in New Hampton. And because the school buildings themselves are outside that zone, meals can only be made available at “remote” sites.
Pickup of meals will be available Tuesdays and Thursdays at Runion Park, across from St. Joe’s Catholic Church in New Hampton from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.; Immaculate Conception Church in North Washington from 11:30 a.m. to noon; and the Alta Vista city parking lot from 12:15-12:30 p.m.
Meal distribution begins on Thursday, June 2nd and goes through Tuesday, June 28th, but that day will also include meals through June 30th. In addition to the free grab and go meals available, each child in the program can receive one free gallon of milk each week of the program.
