Northeast Iowa Man Accused Sexual Abuse of a Child in Custody

A northeast Iowa man wanted for sexually abusing a child is now in custody.

The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office says 45-year-old Matthew Nordrum of Clermont turned himself in at about 10:30 a.m. Tuesday morning. Nordrum has been charged with second-degree sexual abuse, a Class B felony, following a two-week investigation that alleges he sexually assaulted a child under the age of five while the child was at his home in Clermont. A nation-wide warrant had been issued for his arrest.

Nordrum is in the Fayette County Jail in West Union on a $25,000 bond. Further charges in the case are pending while authorities are investigating at least three other allegations against him for sexual assault.
