Equipment Malfunction Leads to Primary Recount in Chickasaw County

An equipment malfunction is leading to an administrative recount of primary ballots in one Chickasaw County voting precinct.

During a special meeting Thursday morning, County Auditor Stephanie Mashek explained to the Board of Supervisors that the brief snafu with the open-elect voting optical scan in the Chickasaw North precinct Tuesday was an isolated incident.

Mashek says her office was alerted to the problem immediately and the issue was corrected quickly after. Still, a recount was requested by the Absentee and Special Votes Precinct (ASVP) Board.

The recount was expected to be completed Thursday.
