One Ballot Leads to Primary Recount in Floyd County

A single ballot will lead to an administrative recount of Tuesday primary ballots in one Floyd County voting precinct.

The Floyd County Board of Supervisors met in special session Friday morning to officially approve conducting a recount of the ballots in the Rockford precinct. County Auditor Gloria Carr requested the recount after there was a brief malfunction in the precinct’s open-elect voting optical (OVO) scanner that prevented one ballot out of 85 from being properly tabulated.

Carr says poll workers alerted her to the issue immediately and while it was quickly rectified, but the ASVP Board recommended the recount.

Supervisors approved the recount, which Carr says will require re-entering all 85 ballots into the scanner  Monday morning at 9:30 a.m.
