New Hampton Accepting Police Officer Applications Through Friday

The New Hampton Police Department is accepting applications for full-time officers through this Friday.

The department recently had one officer resign and a second is about to go on medical leave.

That’s Mayor Bobby Schwickerath, who says filling out the force is a challenge with increased competition for police officers across the region.

As of this past Friday, Schwickerath says they had received only one application. In addition to hiring a full-time police officer, the New Hampton Police Department is also looking for part-time, contract officers to help when RAGBRAI passes through town on July 29th.

More information on how to apply for both can be found below:

Please fill out the application packet, cover letter and resume, and mail to; Chief Zach Nosbisch c/o New Hampton Police Department (22 S. Locust Ave- New Hampton, IA 50659) by Friday June 24, 2022.

Tentative testing date is Saturday July 16th, with physical agility @ 9:00 a.m., and P.O.S.T. testing following completion of the physical testing and a short break.  Applicants currently ILEA certified and employed by a Law Enforcement Agency are allowed lateral transfer.  Applicants without certification are required to pass the P.O.S.T. and physical agility testing.
