After Overnight RAGBRAI Stay, West Union to Send Riders Uphill

When RAGBRAI makes its overnight stay in West Union the night of July 29th, riders will want to get a good night’s sleep. Which might not be so easy if they think too much about what awaits them the next morning.

The theme for RAGBRAI in West Union is “It’s All Downhill from Here,” a tongue-in-cheek nod to the hills riders will face on their ride July 30th from West Union to Lansing. Ron Saboe with the RAGBRAI West Union committee says the most difficult trek will be into or, up to, the pass-through town of Gunder.

Still, Saboe adds that riders will also have a chance to reach “cruising speed.”

Saboe also notes that when riders do get to the top of most hills, they’ll have scenic views in each direction; and that he has ridden RAGBRAI 10 times himself.
