Charles City’s Fourth of July weekend celebration gets a dose of country music Sunday night with John King performing Sunday night in Central Park.
According to his website, his single, “Try Saying Goodbye,” has garnered more than 15 million streams and has been added to 30 major market radio stations including Atlanta, Boston and Seattle. The song was named one of Rolling Stone’s Top 10 Country Songs.
King says his music influences include a varied background.
King says his performances are also still being shaped by touring with country superstars Blake Shelton and Jason Aldean.
King takes the stage at about 8 p.m. Sunday night in Charles City, right after the annual Hot Dog Eating contest. King says he likes his hot dogs with “the works” and, while never having been in a hot dog eating contest, thinks he could eat 10 to 15 before he had to “tap out.”
