Charles City Couple Arrested on Robbery, Assault Charges
A Charles City man and woman were arrested last week on felony robbery and assault charges.
The Charles City Police Department says they conducted a search warrant Wednesday (07.13) afternoon in the 900 block of Gilbert Street in reference to a report of an assault. Items of evidence were seized and both 39-year-old Kathyleen Mason and 41-year-old Darius Mason were arrested and each was charged with first-degree robbery, a Class B felony; and willful assault causing bodily injury, a Class D felony.
Court documents state the Masons are accused of robbing a victim armed with a dangerous weapon on Sunday (07.10). Authorities allege they also beat the victim, hitting the victim several times in the head and body causing bruising, a swollen eye, a broken nose and fractured ankle.
Warrants for their arrests were issued Wednesday (07.13) and each was jailed on a $35,000 cash-only bond.
