Central Springs is number one seed heading into the Class 2A state softball tournament in Fort Dodge.

Newman Catholic is the eighth-seed in the Class 1A state softball field and the Knights will play the final game of the day with a 7 p.m. first pitch tonight against top-seeded North Linn.

At the Class 1A state baseball tournament Monday, 7th-seeded Newman Catholic pulled off the upset of second-seeded Lisbon, 3-2. The Knights improved to 33-3 on the season. However, 8th-seeded South Winneshiek bowed out at state against top-seeded Remsen St. Mary’s, 6-0. The Warriors end their season 36-6.
