A potentially significant severe weather event is expected across the area later today.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in La Crosse, WI says multiple rounds of severe thunderstorms, some potentially significant, is increasingly likely later this afternoon and evening with damaging winds in excess of 70mph, large hail and locally heavy rainfall being the primary threats. Isolated tornadoes and flash flooding also remain possible.
