Weekend Storms Dump Three-Plus Inches of Rain Across North Iowa

Rainfall totals of three inches or more were not uncommon after a storm system made its way across north Iowa Saturday night into Sunday morning.

Data from the National Weather Service (NWS) shows the southwest corner of Floyd County near Dougherty recorded 4.5 inches of rain for the 24-hour period ending at 7 a.m. Sunday. During the same time frame in Mitchell County, St. Ansgar received almost four inches of rain. 

 

Other totals include about 5.5 inches in Mason City, almost four inches in Clear Lake, about 3.75 inches in Ionia and Forest City; about 3.5 inches in Nora Springs and New Hampton; about 3 1/3 in Osage; and just over three inches in Charles City.

Saratoga in Howard County, plus Rockford, Nashua, Fredericksburg  and Fayette all received between 2.5 – 3  inches of rainfall overnight Saturday into Sunday morning.
