Painting of “Town of Colors” Murals in Charles City Continues

The “Town of Colors” campaign in Charles City is closing in on completion of the third of four murals to be painted this year.

The initial murals were painted last year on the southside of First Citizens Bank and the north side of Snap Fitness. This summer, murals were finished prior to RAGBRAI at the Charles City Whitewater course and on the southside of the Wisconsin Street apartments.

That leaves two more murals to be painted in the 2022 season, but Charles City Mayor Dean Andrews says they don’t plan to stop there.

Both remaining murals are being done by local artists, including Janiece Bergland, who has been painting on the east side of Saxony for a little over a week. The last of this year’s murals will be painted by Robin Macomber on the westside of The Rustic Corner facing the current TLC location, which could start next month.
