2022 “Field of Dreams” MLB Game Features Cubs v. Reds

There was a north Iowa connection up front to last year’s “Field of Dreams” Major League Baseball game near Dyersville.

Clarksville’s Maddie Poppe made history when she sang the national anthem on Fox TV’s national coverage of the first-ever MLB game played near the famous movie site. It was the largest spotlight for Poppe, who graduated from Clarksville in 2016, since she won American Idol in May of 2018.

Last year’s game saw the Chicago White Sox beat the New York Yankees in thrilling fashion when White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson hit a two-run walk-off homerun in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 9-8 victory.

Tonight’s (08.11) game in northeast Iowa will feature the Chicago Cubs against the Cincinnati Reds. Both teams will wear throwback jerseys from the early 1900’s when they square off at 6:15 p.m.
