Additional Input Recommended on Future of Heritage Property in New Hampton

The former Heritage Residential assisted-living facility and the property it sits on New Hampton’s southside is owned by Chickasaw County. Whether the County keeps it or sells it is still undetermined.

The Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors recently approved advertising for bids to sell the building and the property, but Supervisor Jacob Hackman has questioned if Heritage might better serve the county, perhaps as the home for a county-run ambulance service.

During this week’s board meeting, County Attorney David Laudner recommended that Supervisors gather more input about how the property could be utilized.

Laudner added that the additional insight could also help the County decide whether to sell or keep the property.

The County is accepting bids for the Heritage property through August 19th and is slated to open bids August 22nd. However, Supervisors retain the right to reject any and all bids.
