Authorities Investigate Thefts From Nashua Food Pantry

The Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a series of thefts from the Nashua Food Pantry.

A department Facebook post says there have been several reports of theft from the pantry at 115 Woodbridge Street within the last couple of weeks. Someone has been breaking in and taking items from the food pantry.

The sheriff’s office also notes, “We understand that the food at the food pantry is free to those that need it. However, we would prefer you visit the food pantry during normal business hours. If you or you know of anyone that needs assistance with food, please contact our office and we can assist with getting you in contact with those services.”

Sheriff Marty Hemann is also alerting the public of a possible scam involving a male subject going around the area asking to do seal-coating jobs. One victim reports that some work was done, but not all that was promised, and they were overcharged.

Citizens are advised to be cautious of individuals soliciting work and to report any suspicious activity. Anyone with details related to the Nashua Food Pantry thefts is also asked to contact the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office at 641-394-3121
