Northeast Iowa Man Charged with Murder in Death of 83-Year-Old

A northeast Iowan has been charged with murder in the death of an elderly man this past spring

The Lansing Police Department has arrested 67-year-old Andrew Karvel of Lansing for first-degree murder, a Class A felony, following an investigation into the death of 83-year-old Daniel Lundy, also of Lansing. On May 9th, authorities responded to a medical call for a report of an elderly man who was not breathing and Lundy was found dead. 

According to the criminal complaint, Karvel is accused of strangling the victim sometime in the early morning hours of May 9th in their residence in the 600 block of 2nd Street in Lansing. Authorities say the defendant did cause the death of the victim.

A warrant was issued for Karvel Wednesday and he was taken into custody.

Karvel was being held in the Allamakee County Jail in Waukon without bail.
