Iowa State Fair Queen (Osage Graduate) Starts College Monday

It’s been a whirlwind few weeks for a Mitchell County 18-year-old.

On August 3rd, Mary Ann Fox of Osage was crowned the queen of the Mitchell County Fair. 10 days later she won this year’s Iowa State Fair Queen contest.

It was a surprising turn for Fox, who says she didn’t even consider herself a “pageant person.”

Things haven’t calmed much for the 2022 Osage High School graduate. She was on State Fair Queen duty through Sunday and starts college at Iowa State University on Monday to study ag engineering, which will be aided by the eight-thousand dollars in scholarship money Fox has been awarded as state fair queen,

Even with all that, she’s also able to look ahead.

It’s been quite a ride to become the State Fair Queen for Fox, who says she owns three times as many jeans as dresses.
