Floyd County EMS Advisory Council Sets More Town Hall Meetings

The Floyd County EMS Advisory Council has established more town hall meetings in advance of November’s vote on a resolution to declare emergency medical services (EMS) as essential services.

If the measure is approved, it would allow the County to use a combination of a property tax and income surcharge to raise up to $556,000 a year for 10 years, with revenue going to fund ambulances and first responders who provide service in the County.

The EMS Council has scheduled a series of town halls to educate voters how the resolution works, what it means to future EMS services and how the tax could be assessed. The first session is scheduled for 7 p.m. Wednesday, September 21st at the Marble Rock Community Center. That’s followed by sessions at 7 p.m. Monday, September 26th at the Charles City fire station; 7 p.m. September 27th at Nora Springs City Hall and 7 p.m. September 28th at the Greene EMS Building..

There are additional public meetings in October in Rockford, Charles City, Floyd, Nora Springs and Nashua.
