North Iowa Unemployment Mostly Steady from July to August

On average, the unemployment rate was largely steady across north Iowa counties from July to August.

According to Iowa Workforce Development, the jobless rate in Floyd County was up slightly from 2.9% in July to 3.2% in August. Butler County saw a similar increase, going from 2.4% in July to 2.7% in August.

Also showing small upticks in unemployment include Howard County from 2.5% to 2.7%; Bremer County from 2.1% to 2.3%; and Mitchell County from 2.0% to 2.1%.

Jobless rates held steady from July to August in Chickasaw County at 2.4%; Winneshiek County at 2.7%; and Cerro Gordo and Fayette counties both at 2.9%.

Unemployment was down slightly in Worth County from 2.7% to 2.5% and in Franklin County, going from 2.5% to 2.4%.

The state jobless rate for August was 2.6%, a slight increase from July’s rate of 2.5%.
