Charles City Man Arrested After Threatening His Boss

A Charles City man has been arrested after being accused of threatening his boss.

The Charles City Police Department says 33-year-old Maurice Bruce was taken into custody in the 1100 block of Gilbert Street just before 11 a.m. Monday morning. Bruce was charged with first-degree harassment, an aggravated misdemeanor.

According to the criminal complaint, Bruce got into an argument with his boss and was asked to leave the property. Before he did, Bruce allegedly threatened his boss’ life. Bruce is also accused sending text messages that included the statements “I’m going to kill you, going to whoop your ass, and threatened rape” of the man’s wife.

Court records show that Bruce is also facing two separate charges for driving while barred, aggravated misdemeanors he was arrested for on March 27th and August 28th. He has court proceedings for those incidents slated in the coming weeks.
