New Chickasaw County Deputy to Come from New Hampton Police Department

The New Hampton Police Department is losing another officer to the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Office.

NHPD officer Braxton Rash submitted his resignation to Police Chief Zach Nosbisch last week. During Monday’s Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors meeting, Sheriff Marty Hemann announced the hiring of Rash.

Hemann said they considered Rash the best of the seven applicants for the deputy post and he’ll share info on the other applicants with Chief Nosbisch in hopes he can find someone interested in joining the police force.

Supervisor Jacob Hackman asked Hemann about the possibility of the City of New Hampton contracting for law enforcement services with the Sheriff’s department like Nashua and Fredericksburg do.

Hemann noted that their previous hires from NHPD include current Chief Deputy Ryan Shawver.

NHPD has been operating down one officer since June, when Officer Seth Uetz resigned to join the Charles City Police Department.
