EMS Advisory Council Hosts Two Town Hall Meetings Thursday in Charles City

The Floyd County EMS Advisory Council  will host two town hall meetings in Charles City Thursday (10.13) evening in advance of November’s vote on a resolution to declare emergency medical services (EMS) as essential services.

If the measure is approved, it would allow the County to use a combination of a property tax and income surcharge to raise up to $556,000 a year for 10 years, with revenue going to fund the various ambulances and first responders who provide service in the County.

The EMS Council has scheduled a series of town halls to educate voters how the resolution works, what it means to future EMS services, and how the tax could be assessed.

Sessions Thursday include the Charles City VFW starting at 6:30 p.m. and the Charles City Knights of Columbus Hall starting at 6:45 p.m.
