Charles City Man, Woman Charged with Child Endangerment Plead Not Guilty

A trial date has been set for a Charles City woman charged with child endangerment, while the child’s father has also pleaded not guilty.

The Charles City Police Department arrested 22-year-old Ezekiel Larson after an investigation determined a four-month-old infant suffered severe head injuries on September 6th, while Larson was the sole caretaker of the infant. Larson is also accused of not seeking medical treatment for the child until four days after the injuries. During that time the child was vomiting and not eating or sleeping.

Two days after Larson’s arrest, CCPD took the child’s mother, 19-year-old Madison Geerts, into custody. Court documents accuse Geerts of also knowing about the injuries and not making arrangements for medical attention for the child until four days later.

Both Larson and Geerts have been charged with child endangerment causing serious injury, a Class C felony.

Geerts entered a not guilty plea October 11th and Larson pleaded guilty last Friday. Their trials have now been set for December 20th in Floyd County District Court.

Both Geerts and Larson were being held in the Floyd County Jail on $10,000 cash only bond.
