Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors to Have Two New Members January 1

Chickasaw County will have two new faces among its five-Supervisor Board to start the new year.
The only contested Supervisor race Tuesday saw incumbent Democrat Jason Byrne defeated in his re-election bid against Republican Travis Suckow, who received 576 votes to Byrne’s 473. Byrne’s current four-year term expires December 31st.
The term of current District 2 Supervisor Tim Zoll also expires at the end of this year, but he lost in the June Primary to fellow Republican Scott Cerwinske. There were no Democratic candidates in the Primary; meaning Cerwinske ran unopposed Tuesday.
Zoll hoped to represent the County in a different role, but he was defeated in the race for County Recorder by Democrat Shirley Troyna, who received almost 59% of the ballots cast.
The race for Chickasaw County Treasurer was won by Republican Matthew Ysbrand, who defeated Democrat Keith Hoey and write-in Republican hopeful Jackie Bohr. Ysbrand garnered over 58% of the total ballots to replace County Treasurer Sue Breitbach, who retires at the end of this year when her term expires.
