New Hampton Voters Redirect LOST Revenue, Mitchell County Keeps 5 Supervisors
Voters in New Hampton have approved redirecting revenue generated by its one-cent Local Option Sales Tax (LOST) to help pay for the City’s portion of Chickasaw County’s new public ambulance service.
 The City currently generates about $500,000 a year with its LOST, which will cover New Hampton’s contribution to operating funds for the ambulance service of about $356,000 a year for five years.Â
Tuesday, voters easily passed Public Measure EF with 1063 yes votes to 324 no votes.
In Mitchell County, voters defeated Public Measure A, which would have reduced the number of County Supervisors from five members to three after votes for “NO†received almost 61% of the ballots cast. No votes totaled 2,498 vs. 1,605 yes votes.
In other Mitchell County races, Democrat Todd Frein beat Republican Dave Stauffer for the District 1 Supervisor seat; Sydney Hartogh beat Russell Goodale for District 3 Supervisors; and Shannon Paulus bested Karen Hahn-Brown to be re-elected County Treasurer.
