Two New Chickasaw County Supervisors to be Sworn in Friday

Chickasaw County is getting ready to start the new year with two new Supervisors.

Republican and former Nashua city councilman Scott Cerwinske beat incumbent and fellow Republican Tim Zoll of Ionia in the June Primary, then ran unopposed in November’s general election to become the new District 2 Supervisor.

In last month’s race for the District 5 Supervisor post, Republican Travis Suckow of Fredericksburg defeated Democratic incumbent Jason Byrne of Lawler.

Cerwinske and Suckow will be sworn in Friday morning at 9:30 a.m. and begin serving four-year terms on Monday.

Also taking the oath of office Friday will be new County Treasurer Matthew Ysbrand, who will replace the retiring Sue Breitbach; plus Shirley Troyna, who defeated Zoll to win her second term as County Recorder,

A pair of County officials who started their jobs as appointees, after the previous office holders resigned, will also be sworn in to four-year terms after running unopposed for their posts permanently in November. Sheila Shekelton replaced former County Auditor Stephanie Mashek, who resigned at the end of July, while David Laudner took over as County Attorney in September of 2021 following the resignation of Jennifer Schwickerath, who returned to private law practice.
