BREAKING: Osage Man Pleads Guilty to Reduced Murder Charge

An Osage man has pleaded guilty to a reduced murder charge in the killing of a north Iowa woman over two years ago.

24-year-old Nathan Gilmore was originally charged with first-degree murder, a Class A felony, in the death of Angela Bradbury, a Cerro Gordo County woman last seen alive April 6, 2021. Her remains were later found in rural Mitchell County and confirmed to be Bradbury’s in February of 2022.

Gilmore had pleaded not guilty, that is, until Thursday morning, when he agreed to plead guilty to second-degree murder, a Class B felony. Due to difficulties with scheduling court reporters in Mitchell County, Gilmore’s plea change hearing was moved to the Franklin County Courthouse in Hampton, where a district court judge accepted his plea.

By agreeing to second-degree murder, Gilmore will avoid a mandatory life sentence without the possibility of parole that comes with a first-degree murder conviction.

No sentencing date has been established.
