Colwell City Well is Not Doing Well

The City well in Colwell is not doing well.
During Monday’s (10.02) Floyd County Supervisors meeting, Colwell Mayor Jeff Wright informed the Board that their City well is in crisis.
Wright said they thought they had the issue addressed earlier this year.
The poor quality of the water led the City to issue a boil advisory, but Wright said they were able to clean the water enough to DNR standards that the boil advisory was lifted. Still, residents are asked to conserve their water use while waiting for construction of a new well.
Wright noted that Hy-Vee recently donated a pallet of bottled drinking water that was distributed to the 29 homes in the Floyd County town.
Until a new well is up and running, the City is considering using the well of the Colwell Fire Department or employing tanker trucks to bring in water from Charles City or New Hampton.
