The Chickasaw County Conservation Department will shut down at least one of its two campgrounds after this weekend.
During Monday’s (10.09) Chickasaw County Board of Supervisors meeting, Conservation Director Chad Humpal said the campground at Split Rock Park, south of Fredericksburg, will be open through this Sunday.
When the County campground northwest of New Hampton will be closed is still uncertain.
Until then, Humpal said workers associated with the Chickasaw Wind Energy Farm being constructed by MidAmerican Energy are also welcome to keep camping and have access to the water they need.
Humpal says camping revenue thus far has been trending well.
Humpal also noted that while the campgrounds will be closing down soon, the parks themselves will remain open for visitors and outdoor enthusiasts.
