Floyd, Chickasaw Co. Veterans Affairs Need Drivers

With Veterans Day now in the “rearview mirror,” it brings awareness to the need for more volunteer drivers to transport Floyd and Chickasaw County veterans to out-of-town medical appointments and back.

That’s Hal Kelleher who coordinates the driver schedule for Floyd County Veterans Affairs.

Kelleher says potential volunteer drivers must have a valid driver’s license and auto insurance, and while you must pass a light physical, especially for vision, there’s no physical work involved.

Even if you can only drive occasionally, Kelleher says they’ll welcome any and all drivers to help take vets to appointments in Iowa City, Waterloo, Des Moines and Mason City.
