Floyd County Medical Orthopedics Program Celebrates Major Milestone

The Orthopedics program at Floyd County Medical Center (FCMC) has hit a major milestone.
FCMC says orthopedic surgeon Jeffrey Clark (DO) recently performed his 100th total joint replacement at the Charles City hospital on April 14th.
Doctor Clark said, ““Reaching my 100th total joint procedure at Floyd County Medical Center is a meaningful milestone and a testament to our team’s dedication. From clinic to surgery to recovery, our focus on coordinated, high-quality care drives the exceptional outcomes our patients experience, helping them return to the activities they love.”
Johns Hopkins Medicine reports that between 2-5% of patients will typically experience complications following a total joint replacement. FCMC says Clark maintains an impressive track record of just 2% or less.
Additionally, the National Library of Medicine pinpoints the 30-day readmission rate for total joint patients to be around 3-4%, whereas, to date, zero of Clark’s total joint patients have had to be readmitted.
FCMC says Clark is an expert in the direct anterior approach for total hip replacements, an alternative technique because no muscles or tendons are cut during the procedure. Thus, the patient typically experiences less pain, less restrictions, and a faster recovery time, with many of Dr. Clark’s patients are discharged on the same day of surgery.
