North Iowa Truck Driver Who Died in Fiery Crash Identified

Authorities have identified the north Iowa driver who was killed after his truck went off the road and caught fire.

The Iowa State Patrol says the crash happened around 2 PM Monday (08.31) on James Avenue, north of 290th Street, about 15 miles northwest of Garner. The 2024 Western Star truck was heading north when it left the roadway, went over a field drive, and through a fence before hitting a tree.

The truck caught fire and the driver, now identified as 59-year-old Dennis Doocy of Lone Rock, died at the scene. 

ISP says Doocy worked for State Line Coop, based in Burt.  

The Hancock County Sheriff’s Office, Britt Fire Department, and WHAS Ambulance assisted at the scene. 

The crash is under investigation.
