ISU EXTENSION HOSTING CROP DAMAGE AND HARVEST ISSUES MEETING

Area corn and soybean crops received considerable storm damage from heavy winds and flooding (including two tornados near Marble Rock and Greene). This damage ranged from bent plants to flattened fields resulting in major economic and harvesting challenges. To help farmers and landowners to address these and other storm related issues, the Iowa State University Extension and Outreach will be holding a public informational meeting on Wednesday, September 8th at the Borlaug Learning Center located at the ISU Northeast Research and Demonstration Farm.

This meeting is free and open to the public:

9:00 AM – Borlaug Learning Center, 3327 290th St, Nashua, IA 50658

ISU Extension Specialists will be on hand to share ideas learned from last year’s derecho wind damage to crops and the resulting harvest and storage issues, plus others.

Directions: From Nashua at the Jct. of Hwy 218 (Exit 220) and Co. Rd. B60, go west on B60 1.1 miles to Windfall Ave., then south 1 mile to 290th St., then east 0.2 miles to the farm.
